Reach the room and build the desk
After Good Fellow, open the locked hatch in your house with 1 Bronze Detail and 2 Boards. The first room is the Writing Room. Unlock Writing Basic, then use its build desk to make the Writing Desk with 4 Wooden Planks, 6 Bronze Nails, and 1 Polished Bronze.
The desk makes Leather Scrolls, Clean Paper, Ink, Basic Prayer, and Science Kit I as their writing recipes become available.
Open the hatch and place the station
- Complete Good Fellow, then take 1 Bronze Detail and 2 Boards to the locked hatch in your house.
- Enter the first room through the hatch and use the build desk there to place the Writing Desk.
- Unlock Writing Basic and bring 4 Wooden Planks, 6 Bronze Nails, and 1 Polished Bronze for the build.

- How can I get the required Polished Bronze?
- Bronze Polishing costs 30 red tech points, and making Polished Bronze uses a Distillation Cube for melted fat. Town stalls also sell Polished Bronze ready-made.
- What can I make with Writing Basic?
- Writing Basic gives you Leather Scrolls at the desk: 1 Skin makes 4 Leather Scrolls.
- What does Writing Supplies add?
- Writing Supplies costs 10 red and 5 blue tech points. At the desk, 1 Leather Scroll makes 6 Clean Paper; 1 Ash, 1 Water, and 1 Melted Fat make 4 Ink; and 1 Alchemy Flasks I, 5 Clean Paper, and 1 Ink make 3 Science Kit I.
- What do I need for Basic Prayer?
- Basic Prayer uses 1 Story, 3 Clean Paper, and 1 Ink. The Writing Desk is also where you write new sermons.
